Encapsulation of a crawl space in Saint-Zotique, Quebec

Challenge

The municipality of Saint-Zotique is very popular in summer thanks to its beautiful beach and its parks. But who says rivers, also says water and humidity. One of our customers who reside in this area contacted us because water was seeping into his crawl space. He also knew that water in a crawl space is not a good thing, and he couldn’t use this space for useful purposes, water makes the air humid, the air of the whole house is affected by this moisture, and building materials deteriorate more quickly. So we sent one of our specialists to make an assessment for the waterproofing and encapsulation of this crawl space.

Solution

To solve the water problem, our specialist recommended the installation of EZFlow drain which is specially designed for crawl spaces. Then our team installed a CleanSpace drainage mat that is a crucial product when your crawl space is infiltrated with water. A vapor barrier membrane installed directly on the ground without drainage mats can block water in its place. The carpet thus facilitates the movement of water towards the drainage system and the sump pump. Afterwards, we install the CleanSpace vapor barrier membrane that blocks the water vapor and redirects it to the drainage system. This ultra-resistant membrane contains an antibacterial that actively helps to reduce the spread of bacteria and mold. All water intercepted and redirected by the carpet and membrane to the inner drain is then evacuated away from home through the SmartSump sump pump system. This pump is perfect for crawl spaces because its lid connects to the CleanSpace membrane, making the system airtight and watertight. No more leaks and infiltrations. We have finalized the installation by adding to the discharge line the IceGuard which protects your space even during frozen winters in Quebec and the LawnScape which is an anti-lock and discreet evacuation system.
