Encapsulation of a crawl space in Montreal, Qc
Challenge
Mme Renaud has an earth crawl space and stone walls that are not insulated. This is not ideal, as water and moisture enter from the open spaces between the stones in the wall and seep in easily and create a wet crawl space.
She wanted to sort out her wet and cold crawl space problem because she wanted to use that space to store her belongings and she didn't want to put them in a damp place and on the ground.
Solution
Ms. Renaud decided to contact Systèmes Sous-sol Québec in order to make her crawl space dry and clean.
Our solution
- Drainage membrane
- CleanSpace coating
First, our experts laid a polyethylene drainage membrane on the floor. The purpose of this is to direct the water that may be on the surface towards the sump pump in place in order to expel it outside.
In order to insulate the soil from the house, they installed our CleanSpace coating over the drainage membrane and on the stone walls. It has a thickness of 20 ml and is made of several layers of plastic with different characteristics in terms of flexibility and resistance to punctures and tears. It is extremely durable and additionally includes an antimicrobial ingredient to prevent mold growth.
With this solution, Mrs. Renaud has a clear, clean and above all dry crawl space! She will be able to store her belongings without any hassle.
