Photo Album: Waterproofing a basement once and for all in Baie-d'Urfe
This client contacted us in 2015 and 2018 because she wanted to finish her basement, but she was experiencing problems with water and moisture infiltration. We had the chance to do a lot of work at her house and are very happy to see that she trusts us whenever it comes to her basement. In 2015, we sent our specialist Jorge to inspect the site and recommend the solution that will solve the problem at its source to be able to finish the basement without worry. We waterproofed and finished the basement with a TripleSafe sump pump system connected to the WaterGuard interior foundation drain. On the walls, our foreman installed the BtoB insulation and the ZenWall wall finishing system. The floor has been covered with ThermalDry tiles which are a water resistant basement finish floor. To improve the quality of the air in the basement environment, we installed the SaniDry dehumidifier that dries and purifies the air while improving comfort throughout the home. This year, this client has decided that it is time to isolate her crawl space in earth and concrete blocks. We encapsulated and insulated it with the SilverGlo insulation product and the CleanSpace vapor barrier membrane. The basement is finally a completely healthy and comfortable environment.
Old sump pump
This sump hole contained a pump that was not powerful enough to protect the basement space. Water and water vapor can come out and humidify the space, which affects the quality of the air and your breathing.
The TripleSafe pump system
The TripleSafe coating contains 3 pumps. The first operates under normal conditions, the second when the flow is very fast (heavy rain) and the third runs on a battery to protect the basement during a power failure.
Finishing the basement
This is what this room looks like once well isolated and finished. All of these materials are inorganic to prevent the floor and walls from becoming wet, that contributes to the growth of bacteria, and that might get damaged in the event of a plumbing leak. You will be protected and you will not need to remake the basement.
Basement room before insulation and finishing
This room was under water and the high humidity was helping the mildew to spread in the basement. A dry and well finished basement is a healthy basement.
Crawl space in the ground
This crawl space in the ground allowed the water vapor to escape into the air and contribute to poor air quality throughout the house, as the air moves from below to the top. It is therefore necessary to solve the problem at source by isolating the crawl space.
Insulated and dry crawl space
Now that the crawl space is insulated with SilverGlo insulation and we've installed a membrane that blocks water and air vapors, it's easy to control the moisture content of this space. This improves the air quality of the living space while allowing you to use the crawl space for storage. So you regain space and value.
