Photo Album: Waterproofing a wet and moldy basement in Outremont, Qc
Our client who lives in Outremont, found out that mold was causing his family members to get sick and to have asthma symptoms. He was informed by his indoor air quality consultant that mold grows due to water infiltration problems in the area. This is when he started looking for waterproofing companies and found Systèmes Sous-sol Québec’.
After his call, we sent our team to examine his place for free, and we suggested the installation of an interior drain system’ the WaterGuard’, to capture water that seeps in at the joint; a SuperSump pump that is considered one of the finest sump pumps on the market; a CleanSpace vapor barrier, and finally a SaniDry dehumidifier to keep the place dry.
Mold loves to grow on organic building materials
Dangerous black mold can cause severe respiratory problems.
Pedestal sump pump without any lid
Old pedestal sump pumps do not have lids, which makes all the moisture out, in addition to bacteria and microbes spread in the place.

This picture shows clearly that the floor is very wet and damp.
Electrical wires in a basement
Electrical wires can be very dangerous when they are exposed to wet materials. You need to waterproof your basement.
Digging for the interior drain
Our team dug a trench along the perimeter of the basement to install the WaterGuard interior drainage system within the concrete floor.
How the WaterGuard system works
The WaterGuard includes a wall flange with 3/8" opening to collect water from walls.
In addition it will not clog with mud since the system sits on top of the footing, away from the "mud zone" underneath your floor
SuperSump pump installed in Outremont
After the drain was placed in the trench, concrete was applied over. The drain leads water to the SuperSump sump pump where it is moved to the outside.
Installation of the CleanSpace vapor liner
To shield the wet basement walls we applied a CleanSpace vapor liner. This durable plastic liner will block wall leakage and moisture from getting into the area. Instead water is moved down into the WaterGuard drain seen below.
WaterGuard ports
WaterGuard ports are installed to allow for system inspections.
