Photo Album: Crawl space encapsulation in Laval,Qc
This client sent us a request for a quote, and during her call she told us that she needed to fix her humid and damp crawl space, but did not know about the right products needed.
During our inspection, Jerry therefore recommended an encapsulation solution that would solve the problem of her damp crawl space and the energy loss in the area. When the house is isolated from the crawl space, humidity will not rise on the upper floors. It will therefore be less expensive and difficult to heat or cool the air in the house. By controlling the quality of air circulation, the client conserves the energy of the home and obtains a healthier environment.
Crawl space inspection
During the inspection, the client mentioned that she wanted to resolve the problem of energy loss that would be caused by poor insulation of the crawl space.
Filthy and contaminated crawl space
As you can see in the picture, the amount of dirt is huge and it needs to be cleaned and encapsulated.
Inefficient insulation form used by our client
This place had been insulated by a low grade plastic sheeting that does not block moisture coming up through the ground.
Wood started to get damaged
All severely warped wood, rotting wood and wood that has developed mold/mildew problems will need to be replaced.
Mold growing on the wooden beams
This is very dangerous and might affect the liability of the beams in the future.
Another picture showing the bad effect of moisture in the area
Wooden beams started to get deteriorated.
Spray foam insulation used by our client
This did not prevent moisture and water infiltration.
Another insulation method used by our client
Foam board insulation is not efficient when dealing with water penetration.
Drainage mat
A stamped polyethylene membrane is installed under the CleanSpace coating and will allow water to flow to the sump pump.
CleanSpace membrane
The CleanSpace coating is installed and then sealed to separate the house from the ground. An antimicrobial ingredient is present in the vapor barrier to prevent bacteria from reproducing.
