Photo Album: Serious presence of ferrihydrite in crawl space in Saint-Calixte, Qc
PROBLEM
Mrs Nathalie discovered her crawl space was filled with ferrihydrite. She had no idea what was the state of that space and didn't know where to begin, to fix the issue. She was worried of the effect it would have on the rest of her house.
SOLUTION
When she met with our team, she decided to go with the complete solution. This included a pump, which was necessary since the exterior drains were not longer functioning properly, hence the ferrihydrite. It also included CleanSpace. Now the client can enjoy a clean and safe crawl space for her home in St-Calixte, Qc.
Once the exterior drains stop working, it can't be taken away from the foundation.
Ferrihydrite will clog the existing drains around a house. Once those don't function anymore, the water has nowhere to go other than in the basement or crawl space.
Important presence of ferrihydrite in the crawl space
There is no solution to this problem, the only way to go is installing a system to counter the infiltration.
Uncovered crawl space
A dirt, vented or unconditioned crawl space under a home is a very bad idea. The earth has very high humidity in the soil, and this water vapor moves easily into the crawl space and upwards into the house environment.
A damp crawl space is unhealthy for your family's air quality
Heating and cooling costs are also higher, especially if you have a vented, dirt crawl space. Insects and critters of all kinds love damp environments and wet materials, and rot and decay occur in damp environments and cause structural damage.
The CleanSpace product leaves the crawl space dry and clean
The CleanSpace system completely isolates your home from the earth, dramatically reducing the humidity level in the air. Lower humidity levels reduce or, in some cases, eliminate mold growth, rot, and critters from your crawl space, making the entire house healthier.
