Photo Album: Wet crawl space and water infiltration in Hawkesbury, ON
Problem
Mr. Boutin had a crawl space that was not well insulated, and where water infiltrated through the foundation walls and the ground.
He contacted Systèmes Sous-sol Québec to have a dry crawl space and strengthen the support beams, that were made of wood.
Solution
-Insulate the crawl space well, add a good functional and reliable sump pump system, and add support pillars to reinforce the floor joists.
- Insulate crawl space walls with our SilverGlo panels and add our CleanSpace vapor barrier to lock in moisture and provide a clear appearance.
- Replace the sump pump with our SmartSump system which contains a 1/3 HP Zoeller cast iron pump.
- Add our Sanidry Sedona dehumidifier to control the humidity level and filter the air.
- Reinforce slowly decaying wooden support beams by adding galvanized steel SmartJack pillars.
Wet and poorly insulated crawl space
This crawl space was very humid and poorly insulated and not at all insulated in some places. Earthen soil is a great source of moisture so it should be covered with a coating such as CleanSpace.
Customer's sump pump
Our customer's sump pump system was not functioning well. There was no airtight cover. It is important to have a reliable, functional system and an airtight cover.
Rotten wooden support pillar
The crawl space had wooden support pillars that were rotting from humidity.
SmartSump Sump Pump System
Our SmartSump sump pump system that includes 1 1/3 HP zoeller pump, airtight cover and alarm.
SilverGlo and CleanSpace panels
Our SilverGlo panels were installed on the walls and our CleanSpace coating on the floor. Thus, the walls and the floor are insulated.
