Photo Album: Addition of support pillars in a crawl space in West Brome, Qc
The problem
The main floor in Mr. Hammer's house was no longer level and he even felt his floor 'softer' in some places. One of the causes is the lack of support pillars in the crawl space. The current pillars of support were poorly spaced and inadequate.
The solution
- Add support pillars
We added galvanized steel SmartJack pillars to reinforce the beams to properly support the floor joists. They are even adjustable over time.
Crawl space overview
Making pillars out of concrete blocks or with pieces of wood is often used but this is not a good idea, because the wood rots in the presence of humidity and it is not stable as a pillar.
Inadequate pillar
This type of pillar was installed too far from the wall and can rust and weaken over time
The work begins!
Before we start, we install rugs / covers to protect your floor.
Creating a solid foundation
In order to lay our SmartJack pillars, we create a solid foundation. For this we dig a hole a few feet and fill it with gravel. This allows the load to be better supported and dissipated.
SmartJack
Made of galvanized steel, the SmartJack will not rust.
