Photo Album: Crawl Space encapsulation in Coaticook, Qc
Mr. Laperle has an earthen crawl space where he had water infiltration all year round. This was a recurring problem and it made his house damp with musty smells. He contacted Systèmes Sous-sol Qc to have his crawl space inspected and find out about possible solutions.
To improve the comfort of his home and make the air healthier, our foreman and his team encapsulated the crawl space. To do this, they installed a sump pump system, a drainage membrane and a Cleanspace vapor barrier on the earth floor. Depending on the needs of our customers, we can also put the Cleanspace coating on the walls to block the humidity coming from them. Adding a dehumidifier such as the Sanidry Sedona is also recommended.
Nasty crawl space in Coaticook
This picture is what it looks like under a lot of homes in Quebec.
A wet dirt, musty smells, and high humidity.
Mold and fungus growing
Mold starts to grow very fast when there is humidity in the crawl space. Mold is a living thing that attacks anything organic!
Water in the crawl space
You can see water seeping into the crawl space, which is causing most of the problems.
CleanSpace drainage matting installed
Drainage matting has built-in dimples that align both vertically and horizontally to rapidly channel water from grade to footer drainage system. The bump shaped dimples provide an air chamber between the roll and its matting surface.
CleanSpace water vapor installed
The Cleanspace creates an effective moisture and vapor barrier. The wall covering forces all wall seepage and moisture to flow into your perimeter drain system.
SuperSump pump installed in the crawl space
Our SuperSump pump is one of the most efficient and powerful pumps.
The unit installed is our SuperSump and is one of the best, capable of pumping up to 2,280 gallons per hour.
Encapsulated crawl space
Once the work is done, here is what your crawl space will look like. You can enter without problems and even store seasonal items.
