Photo Album: Structural Rehabilitation: Resolving Crawl Space Issues in Rawdon, QC
Our client Eveline, the owner of a house in Rawdon, was facing serious issues within her crawlspace, leading to significant structural damage. The initial signs appeared through water infiltrations from the ground, compromising the integrity of support beams and causing mold growth. After filling out the form on our website, our specialist Laurent conducted a detailed free inspection. Initially, he noticed the floor sagging, insinuating for a structural problem. Entering into the crawlspace, he identified numerous mold spots and efflorescence. Subsequently, he explained that the solution consisted of two crucial steps: Encapsulating the crawl space to eliminate harmful moisture and installing crawlspace jacks to level the sagging floor.
SmartJack to support the crawlspace
We installed a total of three SmartJack beams on a precase concrete base. It's important to note that SmartJack beams are made of galvanized steel, eliminating the risk of rust.
Well-insulated crawlspace
The crawlspace encapsulation is complete using the CleanSpace system. This involves covering the floor with a drainage membrane and a vapor barrier above. The drainage membrane has a dimpled surface that helps channel infiltrated water towards the drainage or sump pump. The vapor barrier prevents the evaporation of infiltrated water, eliminating excess humidity. It also includes an antimicrobial additive to prevent mold growth.
To ensure proper thermal insulation of the crawlspace walls, we installed SilverGlo wall insulation panels. In addition to resisting thermal conduction, SilverGlo panels have a radiant barrier that reflects heat inside the crawlspace for energy savings.
The crawlspace during our inspection
Excess humidity, damaged joists, uncomfortable temperature fluctuations. All are signs of a serious structural problem
SuperSump Sump Pump
Next, we put in place our revolutionary SuperSump sump pump system. This system includes a 1/3 HP Zoeller pump, a lid, a tight-sealing drain, and a WaterWatch alarm to prevent potential disasters.
