Stabilize and strengthen the foundation walls of a house in Pont-Rouge, Qc
Challenge
This year, Mr. Boivin discovered that he had a problem with the foundations of his house. One of its walls was curved in the center about 3 ”towards the interior of the basement.
The cause of this problem is soil pressure. The foundation walls weakened and the pressure from the exterior soil caused the foundation walls to bend and arch inwards. Foundation walls must be stabilized and reinforced to hold them in place.
Mr. Boivin wanted to have his foundation walls repaired to have peace of mind and be able to sell his house in the years to come.
Solution
Mr. Boivin contacted Systèmes Sous-sol Québec for a reliable and permanent solution.
In order to repair one of the concrete block walls that was curved inward, our experts installed 5 CarbonArmor straps connected and attached to the joists using our ArmorLock system.
CarbonArmor is made from a fiber-reinforced polymer ten times stronger than steel and highly resistant epoxy, and it helps solidify and stabilize cracked or arched foundation walls. When ground pressure forces foundation walls to bend or tilt inward, this is where the ArmorLock system comes in to help. It serves as additional reinforcement as the straps are attached to the ArmorLock system which is attached to the joist. Holding the foundation wall to the ledge joist will prevent soil pressure from pushing the wall inward.
With this system, Mr. Boivin can have peace of mind as his foundation wall will no longer move.
