Waterproofing system at Pointe-Calumet

Challenge

Many of us know the city of Pointe-Calumet for its water park. The water is nice when we are out in the water, but nobody wants their basement to become a pool. This client in Pointe-Calumet wanted to make an appointment with a specialist in waterproofing, because there was water infiltration in the basement. In addition, the places where the water came from were very distant. In addition, since the wall is not finished and the concrete foundation structure is exposed, the water also seeps through the joints and pores of the concrete .In order to solve the problem of infiltration of water and water vapor, we sent our basement waterproofing specialist to evaluate the basement space from the inside and the outside and to recommend the best solution.

Solution

As a result, we started by installing a 125 feet of CleanSpace membrane which is an antibacterial vapor barrier membrane. It blocks the water vapor and redirects it to the inner drain installed on the footing of the foundation. The WaterGuard is our patented internal drain system. It intercepts water vapor from the floor and walls and redirects it to a sump pump. We installed a 115 feet of WaterGuard Drain and 4 inspection ports at this client for annual maintenance. To evacuate the water away from the house, we installed our TripleSafe sump pump system which contains 3 pumps: the first one runs under normal conditions, the second starts if the first one fails or if there was  flow and volume for example, and the third is a battery powered emergency pump that works if you experience a power outage. To solve the problem of distance between water infiltrations, we recommended the installation of  a second pump system, the SuperSump instead of installing 22 feet of power line. This pump allows water that does not reach the TripleSafe to be evacuated anyway. Finally, we installed 2 IceGuard systems that allow the water to be drained out even if the discharge pipe freezes in the winter.
