Encapsulation and dehumidification of the crawl space of a daycare center in Saint-Jérôme
Challenge
When we received a request from the board of directors of a Saint-Jérôme daycare center, we were very excited to be able to help improve the quality of the air, the environment and the energy consumption of this daycare center.
It is very important that the air we breathe is of good quality and free of harmful bacteria for the respiratory tract. Moisture and fungi aggravate respiratory problems such as asthma and allergies.
As soon as board members shared their concerns about the humidity level that seems a bit too high, we sent our specialist Jorge to inspect the crawl space and recommend a complete solution that would eliminate problems once and for all.
Solution
At the time of the appointment, Jorge entered the crawl space and thoroughly inspected it to carefully examine each potential source of the problem and eventually recommend a solution to each one.
Because crawl spaces are places our specialists often visit and they are extremely well trained to identify problems, here is the complete and effective solution that our specialist has given.
1) First, all the debris accumulated in the crawl space had to be removed and treatment for the mildew needed to be done. Mold-X2 is a very strong mold decontamination product that we apply to all wood and masonry. This powerful cleaner works in 20 seconds and its odors will leave after a very short time. We then apply the Mold-X2 Botanical antimicrobial, which helps prevent the recurrence and growth of mold.
2) Next, we install the SmartSump sump pump system which is our smallest system specifically designed to be installed in crawl spaces. The SmartDrain is a floor drain installed to prevent plumbing leaks. Thanks to its built-in alarm system, this prevention system warns you of potential danger before it might happen.
3) The CleanSpace membrane is a vapor barrier that blocks water infiltrations and vapors to redirect them to the interior drainage system. The membrane is ultra-resistant and contains a non-toxic antibacterial that blocks the proliferation of bacteria.
4) The SaniDry Sedona Dehumidifier is the most efficient direct flow system. It is also very energy efficient (EnergyStar). It has a capacity of 47.3 liters per day and circulates 8.5 cubic meters of dry air which dries the organic materials and the contents of your home to eliminate this feeling of humidity.
5) IceGuard and LawnScape Discharge Line Accessories are the accessories we add to allow water to drain even if the pipe freezes and the LawnScape prevents debris, rodent, and mud from blocking the outlet of the pipe into the grass.
