Water infiltration in a 1940 house in Plessisville
Challenge
The owner suffered for many years from water infiltration problems in the basement of his house built in 1940. The humidity level in the basement was very high, and it smelled musty. With each heavy rain, water seeped into the basement, and unfortunately, the owner of this house had to tear off his floor damaged by the infiltration of water. In addition, part of the basement floor was not finished. During our inspection, we discovered that water was entering through the wall / floor joint.
The owner received proposals to install a French drain, but it was a very expensive job, since the balcony and veranda should have been removed.
The owner wanted to finish his basement once and for all, and for this reason he wanted to have a permanent solution to deal with the water infiltration.
Solution
In order to offer the customer a permanent solution to regulate water infiltration through any side of the foundation walls, our specialist, chose the installation of a Waterguard system all around the perimeter of the house. The Waterguard is a drain that is installed from the inside, on the jogging and under the slab. It never hangs, and takes water from the walls and joints of the foundation, which was perfect for the client. We installed the job in 2 days and the customer paid less than 2 times the cost they received in the quotes to install a French drain system!
The client was extremely satisfied, since he had the only solution on the market that is guaranteed for the life of the structure, and this at a price much lower than what he had planned.
