A very humid basement in Sutton, Qc
Challenge
Mrs. Adamus has a cellar built with stone walls where there was a very high humidity and where there was water seepage. She was trying to combat the relentless humidity in her basement by heating the room and installing a fan, but the problem did not improve. Mold had grown in some places, the walls were wet and there was a foul odor.
The problem with stone walls is that they are more conducive to water infiltration, as there are many cracks and spaces between the stones which allow water, humidity and cold to enter. the basement.
The owner wanted to solve this problem because her electricity costs had drastically increased, the situation was not improving, she was stressed and it was affecting the comfort of her home.
Solution
She contacted Systèmes Sous-sol Québec to obtain a complete, permanent solution and settle this situation for good.
Our solution for Ms. Adamus:
-Clean and remove debris.
- Insulate the basement walls with Foamax. Our Foamax polyisocyanurate foam insulation panels mold perfectly to an uneven floor or wall like our client's stone.
- Install our patented TripleSafe sump pump system. It is our most efficient system with 3 pumps; a Zoeller 1/3 HP Cast Iron AC Primary Pump, a Zoeller 1/2 HP Cast Iron Booster Pump and an Ultra-Sump Battery Pump in the event of a power failure.
- Install our patented WaterGuard drainage system. Unique system, it is installed in the basement inside the house and ensures to convey the water coming from the ground or the walls towards the sump pump.
With this solution, the basement is well insulated and permanently waterproofed and this will reduce Ms. Adamus' exorbitant electricity costs. She now has a dry, clean and bright basement and will be able to have peace of mind.
