Since it is illegal to connect a sump pump discharge line to the sewer line, and that the rain water municipality system will be under pressure during heavy rains (thus putting more risk of having an infiltration in the basement), we recommend our clients whenever possible to discharge the water a few feet away from the foundation. The IceGuard system you can see in the picture will help drain the water out in case the discharge line gets frozen in winter.
