Basement Waterproofing Photo Album: Basement Waterproofing in Trois-Rivières
With each heavy rain and during the thaw season, water seeps into the basement of this house built in the 1950s. Renters had up to 2 inches of water which damaged everything from the objects installed in the basement.
The owners then had to have a permanent solution to protect their basement and rent it as living space.
French Drain?
With a house that dates back to the 50s, we were not sure if a French drain existed. However, with the lack of space around the house and the cost of excavating and remaking asphalt, installing a French drain from the outside was not recommended.
Efflorescence and water infiltration
Efflorescence is always a sign of water infiltration or moisture existence. You can see the presence in this picture.
Basement as storage space
Tenants in the basement used this space not just to live there, but also to store equipment. You can see the presence of efflorescence on the poorly made slab.
Concrete slab pegged in an inappropriate way
On rare occasions we find slabs hitched to jogging, which is not ideal.
The solution in these cases is to dig a trench a few inches, to lay our inner drain the "WaterGuard" under the slab, docked to the jogging, and install a waterproofing membrane that mounts on the wall of the foundation and directs the water to the WaterGuard .
The fact that the waterguard has a rear rim makes it the ideal drain.
Alternative to the French drain in Trois-Rivières
This is the final photo of the WaterGuard installation. The Waterguard was adapted with the addition of a waterproofing membrane to direct the water from the walls to it and to cope with the problem of the slab that was originally installed .
Sump pump in Trois-Rivières
In most cases the installation of a sump pump system is imperative to drain water from French drains or interior drains. Our "SuperSump Sump Pump System" offers to customers a peace of mind; it comes with an alarm to warn them when the water level rises and poses a danger of overflow. It also has more than 100 holes to drain the water under the slab.
Clear the water pressure in the concrete blocks
Since the concrete blocks of the foundations were filled up with groundwater, we drill them in order to drain the water.
Flexible installation of the WaterGuard
In this photo you can have the installation of the WaterGuard in front of the entrance of the basement. In other cases where water seeps through the door, we also install a special port at the door to drain the water.
