Basement Waterproofing Photo Album: Installation of an interior drain in Bon-Conseil, Qc.
The joint between the floor and the wall is often the place where the water infiltrates the most easily. In addition, if the floor under the floor slab is wet, the water evaporates and moistens the concrete, leaving traces. When traces of water are visible, it is because the water has found a way to penetrate your basement.
To solve the problem in this basement in Bon-Conseil, we recommended an interior waterproofing solution consisting of an inside drain that we install on the perimeter of the foundation on the footing, as well as a sump pump system that evacuates the collected water far from home.
Please check the photos of this album, the steps we follow to waterproof a basement.
Floor and traces of water
The differentiations on this floor indicate that the water is infiltrating the room and the joint between the wall and the footing.
Dig a trench to accommodate the drain
A trench is dug all around the perimeter which does not cause any structural problems to the foundation.
Drain installation
We install a drainage solin when we cannot install the drain directly at the joint between the wall and the footing. This helps the water flowing from the wall to move towards the drain.
Fix the drain to the flashing
Once the WaterGuard Drain is installed and covered with the drainage mat, we secure them together with CleanSpace tape that resists water and blocks vapors.
Pour the concrete to finish
Once the system is in place, we cover everything by pouring concrete. A dry gut, you can remake the floor without any risk that it does not get wet again.
Sump pump system
We installed the SuperSump sump pump system and the WaterWatch alarm that works when the water level rises above normal to prevent any problems.
