Mr. Sylvain de Vimont called us for our expert opinion on his water problem in the basement. He told us that there are two places where water comes in, but in small quantities. For us, these are enough clues, because if the water comes in a little now and the problem is never resolved properly and at its source, it will come back a lot in a few years causing a lot of major damage. We therefore sent our specialist in waterproofing system design, who recommended the installation of 37 feet of WaterGuard interior drain, a SuperSump sump pump system and the CleanSpace vapor barrier membrane to block moisture and redirect the water to the drain.

During the appointment, our specialist was able to see where the water infiltration occurred.

Installation of the membrane and trench for the drain

The first step is to dig a trench to accommodate the drain and install the CleanSpace vapor barrier membrane on the wet foundation wall.

Place the drain in the trench

The WaterGuard sole drain is installed on the footing of the foundation and collects water which seeps through the ground and through the wall.

Cover the foundation drain

Once installed, the drainage system is covered with concrete. The system is no longer visible and once the concrete is dry, you can finish your floor with the coating of your choice.

The advantage of the interior drain versus the French drain is that it remains accessible at all times for easy cleaning or to check that nothing is blocking it.

Our foreman installs the sump pump system and connects the drain to the lining so that the water is evacuated away from the house.

SuperSump coating

The SuperSump coating is waterproof and hermetic. The Zoeller pump drains water and the coating prevents dirt from entering and moisture from escaping.
