Wet Basement & Settling in Sainte-Thérèse
Challenge
This client sent us the following request: "I have to move to Sainte-Thérèse shortly and there is a problem of infiltration in the basement. I saw that you had several solutions following the problem. I would like to meet a representative in my future home to evaluate the most economical and sustainable solution. When our specialist went to the client's home, the specialist learned that this house had been suffering from this problem for a long time. During heavy rains, water seeps in and almost half an inch covers the floor. It's a common problem for a lot of people, but it has to be sorted out, because what's the use of buying a three-story house if one of those floors, the basement, is flooded and nothing can be placed in this space without being at risk of being damaged. In addition to this risk, the client mentioned that he noticed that a little mold was starting to form. This is often a sign that the humidity in the basement is too high.
We are happy to have received this request because we do not like useless basements. One of our specialties is the systems that solve the problems of infiltration of water and moisture and make the underground space healthy, useful and habitable. By repairing water problems in the basement, you increase the usable space of the house, and its value as well.
Solution
So the solution that our specialist recommended is:
- The installation of 127 feet of WaterGuard interior drain which is affixed to the base of the foundation at the level of the wall-floor joints. The WaterGuard Drain intercepts water from the floor and walls. As it is installed inside, it will never clog. All the water is intercepted and then redirected to a pump system that evacuates the water away from the house.
- Installation of 4 inspection ports for WaterGuard. As we recommend an annual maintenance service, we install these ports so that our service technicians can verify that the water flows well to the pump and that it does not escape through openings. This preventive measure allows you to have extra peace of mind.
- The installation of a TrenchDrain, stairway or doorway floor drain allows the water that comes from outside to be intercepted before it reaches entry points. The water is then redirected to the WaterGuard drainage system.
- To eliminate moisture, odors and the risk of mold.
