Stabilizing a foundation in Notre-Dame-de-L'île-Perrot
Challenge
Mr. Bissonnette has been living in his house in Notre-Dame-de-L'île-Perrot for two years. Due to the instability of the soil under his house, the foundation of his house shifted over time. He had had a soil study completed and had a recommendation to stabilize the foundation to stop the movement.
The foundation movement saged the basement floor and created several cracks in the foundation walls.
Mr. Bissonnette wanted his foundation repaired asap!
Solution
He chose Systèmes Sous-sol Québec because he saw our positive reviews and our work.
The challenge was that the house was moving every year which created a lot of damage to the foundation, walls and floors. A solution had to be found to resolve all the problems:
- Stop the foundation movement
-Stabilize the sagging floor
-Sealing of cracks on the foundation
To stop the movement of the foundation, our experts installed our support pillars to the foundation footing. They are driven into the ground below until they are resting on firm ground or rock. The weight of the foundation and the house is then transferred to this stable layer through the piles. This helps stabilize the house permanently.
Then, in order to straighten the floor on the main floor, our experts installed a SmartJack support to support the floor joist system and stabilize the beam in place to raise the floor above the basement to its original position.
Finally, our experts sealed the cracks in the foundation with the FlexiSpan to prevent water infiltration.
With this complete solution, Mr. Bissonnette will no longer see his house move and will be able to have the peace of mind.
