Encapsulation of a crawl space in Saint-Hippolyte, Qc

Challenge

Mr. Toupin has a very humid crawl space . The floor and some walls were not insulated which allowed moisture from the floor and from the outside to seep into the crawl space.

 

He would like to use his crawl space more to store his belongings, but he wanted to solve the humidity problem first.

Solution

He contacted Systèmes Sous-sol Québec in order to have a reliable and permanent solution that could eliminate humidity.

 

The floor of the crawl space was rocky and rugged so he had to choose to install the right materials to be able to cover it well. While respecting our client's budget, our solution was to install a drainage membrane and then our CleanSpace coating on top.

 

- The Drainage Membrane is a patented durable solution that creates a drainage space and thermal cushion between the CleanSpace and the ground. It gives a certain insulation value. It is ideal for rocky or uneven ground.

 

- The 20 mm thick CleanSpace coating is made of several layers of plastic with different characteristics in terms of flexibility and puncture resistance. It thus blocks all water vapor. The material is extremely durable and additionally has an antimicrobial that prevents the growth of mold on the coating.

 

With this solution, Mr. Toupin now has a dry crawl space.
