Foundation repair in Stukely, Qc.
Challenge
When one of our clients reached out for us with their foundation issues, we knew there was something we could do to fix the issue. When a wall in the basement or crawl space bends, leans inward, or sinks in from below, there is a sign that the foundation is starting to pose a risk to the stability of the home. Wall failure is a very common problem that requires quality repair solutions in order to fix a problem at its source.
At the time of the inspection appointment, our specialist spoke with the client to find out more about the situation. It is a house built in 1986. The client has lived in the house since 1992, but the first signs of the problem appeared in 2003. The client was planning to finish the basement in order to use it, but for this it was necessary repair the foundation, or even bring the walls back to their initial position.
Solution
So, to solve the problem and prepare the basement for finishing, our specialist recommended the installation of 6 wall anchors. The wall anchors are made of strong galvanized steel tie rods which are rooted in the earth away from the foundation wall in virgin earth (earth which was not touched during construction, which was not excavated and backfilled).
We then installed a SilverGlo insulation on the foundation walls. This insulation helps to reflect heat and preserve it inside. This allows the wall to be protected against temperature changes in the ground. It also helps block water vapor so the walls don't get wet and cold.
These combined products form a permanent and effective foundation repair system will fix the problem at its source.
