Stabilizing a foundation in Saint-Alphonse-de-Rodriguez, Qc
Challenge
In the past, Mr. Patry had poured concrete over his exterior foundation walls that had cracks. However, he recently discovered a large crack in the concrete slab floor of his basement and on top of that his foundation walls cracked again.
The cracks in his foundation walls as well as the ones in his concrete slab were signs that the foundation of his house was sagging.
The cause of these problems is the movement and change of the soil under the foundation. The weight of the foundation was no longer supported by the ground so it began to sag.
Mr. Party believed he had solved his crack problem before, but now has to face it again.
Solution
He contacted Systèmes Sous-sol Québec in order to have a free estimate and to know the possible solutions to resolve his problem for good.
In fact, pouring concrete over its block walls only hid the problem, not solve it.
The solution is to stabilize the foundation. So, for this our experts added the Push Piers under the foundation in order to stabilize it permanently. As there were several obstacles outside, our experts laid the pillars in the interior of the house. They dug in order to expose the footing of the foundation to then insert the supports and drive the piles into the ground. They rest on a very solid layer of soil, which stabilizes the foundation once and for all. They even allow a possibility of straightening the house to its original position.
With this solution, Mr. Patry will have nothing more to fear for regarding his house’sfoundation.
