Reinforcing cracked walls with our carbon fiber strips in Westmount, Qc
Challenge
Mr. Dobrin has lived in his home in Westmount for over 30 years. He had added a garage to his house, but over time he noticed deterioration of the garage walls. Several cracks, water infiltration and a slightly curved wall. He had already sealed the cracks in the past, but it didn't work as the wall continued to crack.
The cause of his problem is the pressure of the ground exerted on the walls of his garage.
His neighbor had the same problem as him and he had his walls repaired with our company, so he decided to have his garage wall repaired before the problem got worse.
Solution
He contacted Systèmes Sous-sol Québec in order to have a reliable and permanent solution.
Our solution for Mr. Dobrin:
- Install our carbon fiber and CarbonArmor epoxy tapes
- BrightWall wall panels
- Caulk Flexispan cracks
First, the cracks were caulked with a polyurethane sealant. The CarbonArmor strips were applied to reinforce and stabilize the cracked and arched wall. They are made from a fiber-reinforced polymer ten times stronger than steel and high-strength epoxy was applied to adhere them to the wall and increase its strength. They are installed in a day and can be hidden with a finishing touch.
Our BrightWall wall panels hide the CarbonArmor strips, they insulate the garage and act as a vapor barrier, thus blocking moisture from the walls. They also give a clear appearance to the garage.
With this solution, Mr. Dobrin no longer has to worry about his garage walls and the value of his house.
