Foundation Repair Photo Album: Installation of support pillars in a Pointe-aux-Trembles house in Montreal!

Following a free inspection by Peter Romaniuk, a house foundation specialist, this client from Pointe-aux-Trembles was advised to install a steel support pillar to raise the foundation of his home to its initial position. In addition, the specialist had the opportunity to inject crack injection polyurethane in order to prevent the infiltration of water. Cracks and clues outside the house

You can see here some cracks that occurred on the outside walls of the house that might be extending from the corners.

Some cracks were visible inside and outside the house

Generally, there are vertical cracks (as shown here) in basements where walls are built with poured concrete. In this case, there was a major crack that required the intervention of our specialists; or else the structural integrity of the residence would be deteriorated over the years.

It was the beginning of work! Our technicians had to remove the concrete.

First, the concrete had to be removed from the area in which the pillar will be installed. To do this, the specialists must break the cement in the basement and dig the earth to get to the footing of the foundation.

Installation of a resistant steel support!

Before proceeding with lifting the foundations, the technicians at Systèmes Sous-sol Québec had to install a super-resistant steel support against the base of the foundation of this house in Pointe-aux-Trembles.

Uprising of the client's foundation

After installing the steel support against the footing of the foundation, the technicians had to drive (hydraulically) the sections of the steel pillar, through the support to the bedrock. This operation requires a machine specifically designed to achieve this, as you can see in the photo.

At last, we need to close everything before having completely finished the work

Once the pillar had been driven down to the bedrock, the weight of the house had been transferred through the support pillar, in order to lift the foundation and stabilize the house permanently.
