Sump Pump Installation Photo Album: Wateproofing a basement in REPENTIGNY, Qc
Problem
Mr Achachi had moisture problems in his basement. He could see in some places of his basement walls traces of water and this meant that there was water seeping through the foundation walls in his basement.
One of the causes was the presence of cracks in the foundation walls that allowed water and moisture to seep into the basement.
Solution
We first sealed these cracks with our FlexiSpan solution. Next, we installed a SuperSump sump pump system which includes a 1 / 2HP cast iron Zoeller pump. This way the soil water is drained outside away from the house and it can reduce the humidity in the basement. And then a WaterGuard foundation interior drain was laid on the foundation footing. This collects the water coming from the walls and which may be on the surface of the ground to direct it towards the SuperSump to evacuate it
Water marks on the basement walls
Water and moisture seeping through the foundation walls had started leaving water marks on the basement walls. Over time, this will get worse and will create mold and organic materials such as wood will rot.
Installing the WaterGuard
In order to install our inner foundation drain, we dig to reach the foundation footing. Once reached, we lay the WaterGuard on it this way the drain does not clog and can collect water from the walls
WaterGuard
WaterGuard is installed all along the foundation walls. Gravel has been deposited as well as a vapor barrier. We only need to pour concrete over it.
WaterGuard installed
Once the WaterGuard drain is installed, concrete is poured over it.
SuperSump
The waterGuard was connected to our SuperSump in order to direct the collected water into the sump pump system. We also see our Zoeller 1 / 2HP cast iron pump.
Sump pump system installation complete
Once the SuperSump is installed, an airtight cover is placed on the pit of the sump and concrete is poured all around.
IceGuard
We lay a discharge line for the water that comes from the SuperSump to direct it outside the house and away from the foundation. The IceGuard which is shown in the photo is an emergency drainage system that allows water to escape in the event of a blockage or freeze in the discharge line.
