Crawl Space Repair Before & After Photos

Our client from Mercier had cracks in her foundation. He also noticed slopping in some of his first level floor, which is due to an underlying problem in his crawl space.

Our technicians led by foreman Jerry have then installed 7 SmartJack support pillars.

The SmartJack is a support beam designed by engineers that adjusts to the exact height between the solid base and the support beam at the top.

The problem

Mr. Cloghesy had an earthen crawl space which was very wet. Moisture from the crawl space spreads to upper floors and sometimes creates a foul odor. He contacted Systèmes Sous-sol Québec to install a vapor barrier in his crawl space in order to regain the comfort of his home and use the space as storage.

The solution

 Install our drainage membrane as well as our CleanSpace coating. The drainage membrane is installed on the earthen floor, it creates a drainage space for water to flow to the interior French drain or sump pump system. Ideal for covering earthen and rocky ground, it creates an air space which acts as a thermal cushion giving a certain insulation value. Next, our 20mm thick CleanSpace liner is a blend of high and low density polyethylene making it puncture resistant and flexible. It thus blocks moisture from the basement and gives a clear and clean appearance to the void.

When our client in Sainte-Marthe-Sur-Le-Lac noticed that the floor of his basement was sinking, he contacted us in order to recommend a solution that will strengthen the existing beams and stabilizing the foundations permanently.

Furthermore, we ended up installing 11 SmartJack support beams. SmartJacks are steel support devices that are used specifically in crawl spaces to stabilize and level beams and floor joists. The SmartJack can support a load of over 60,000 pounds. These high strength galvanized steel girders can adapt to the height of your crawl space. This system can support the weight of your home, repair your bending floors and stabilize the foundations of your home.

A client from Saint-Anicet had moisture problems in his crawl space. He noticed that some of the joists of his house were sagging slightly and the floor was bouncing under his feet.

Problem: This Morin-Heights client had an uninsulated crawl space that was wet and left an unpleasant odor through the floor of the first floor. This is why he decided to contact us to receive a free quote.

Solution: The solution chosen during this project was to install our CleanSpace system throughout the crawl space. So to start, our foreman sealed all possible air leaks in the crawl space with expandable foam. Subsequently to redirect the water to the sump pump, a drainage membrane was installed over the entire floor of the crawl space and following it we installed our CleanSpace vapor barrier membrane on top to waterproof everything. Finally, we also installed the SilverGlow, our insulation type EPS laminated with aluminum foil, to insulate this crawl space.

Since our intervention, the humidity of this crawl space has been reduced and the customer now benefits from a better insulated crawl space.
